U.K. stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 1.27%

U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles&Parts, Forestry&Paper and Electronic&Electrical Equipment sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the United Kingdom 100 lost 1.27% to hit a new 6-months low.

The best performers of the session on the United Kingdom 100 were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which rose 3.75% or 5.75 points to trade at 159.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) added 3.65% or 9.20 points to end at 261.10 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 3.63% or 8.30 points to 237.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI), which fell 8.74% or 170.00 points to trade at 1775.50 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 8.09% or 152.00 points to end at 1728.00 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was down 6.08% or 133.00 points to 2054.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1639 to 556 and 220 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.30 to $1192.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.20% or 1.65 to hit $73.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.91% or 1.62 to trade at $83.38 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.47% to 1.3206, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8740.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 95.08.
