Spain stocks lower at close of trade; IBEX 35 down 1.55%

Spain stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms&IT, Financial Services&Real Estate and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.55%.

The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which rose 6.81% or 0.051 points to trade at 0.800 at the close. Meanwhile, Indra A (MC:IDR) added 0.84% or 0.070 points to end at 8.410 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) was up 0.47% or 0.028 points to 6.022 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which fell 4.74% or 1.030 points to trade at 20.690 at the close. Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) declined 3.94% or 0.44 points to end at 10.74 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was down 3.28% or 0.302 points to 8.890.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 129 to 43 and 15 ended unchanged.

Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.74% or 1.030 to 20.690. Shares in Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.94% or 0.44 to 10.74. Shares in Acerinox (MC:ACX) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.28% or 0.302 to 8.890.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.20% or 2.40 to $1222.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 5.14% or 2.94 to hit $54.26 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 5.17% or 3.45 to trade at $63.34 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.1385, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8885.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 96.55.
