Nigeria stocks higher at close of trade; NSE 30 up 2.18%

Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages&Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 2.18%.

The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which rose 6.79% or 95.00 points to trade at 1480.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 4.96% or 1.75 points to end at 36.95 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 4.76% or 2.00 points to 44.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which fell 9.92% or 8.55 points to trade at 77.60 at the close. Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) declined 5.11% or 9.70 points to end at 181.00 and Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) was down 2.86% or 0.15 points to 5.20.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 44 to 41 and 9 ended unchanged.

Shares in Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.92% or 8.55 to 77.60.

Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.21% or 0.15 to $72.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.02% or 0.82 to hit $81.35 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.09% or 1.10 to trade at $1205.50 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was down 0.57% to 425.190, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 363.000.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.72.
