Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.21%

Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials, Telecoms Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.21%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 4.17% or 35.86 points to trade at 895.00 at the close. Meanwhile, VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) added 2.28% or 0.31 points to end at 13.91 and Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) was up 1.70% or 0.470 points to 28.140 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX:GMXT), which fell 1.91% or 0.600 points to trade at 30.850 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) declined 1.46% or 1.050 points to end at 70.950 and Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX:FMSAUBD) was down 1.44% or 2.67 points to 183.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 143 to 138 and 16 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1206.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.51% or 0.36 to hit $69.89 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.45% or 0.35 to trade at $77.67 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.05% to 19.1017, while EUR/MXN fell 0.57% to 22.1747.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 95.02.
