Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.40%

Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Materials, Financial Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 1.40% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO), which rose 2.94% or 0.300 points to trade at 10.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (MX:GAPB) added 2.69% or 4.62 points to end at 176.36 and Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) was up 2.52% or 0.350 points to 14.220 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Becle SA (MX:CUERVO), which fell 2.20% or 0.550 points to trade at 24.430 at the close. PINFRA SAB De CV (MX:PINFRA) declined 1.49% or 2.86 points to end at 189.69 and Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) was down 1.00% or 0.23 points to 22.70.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 219 to 97 and 12 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.01% or 0.15 to $1319.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.65% or 0.90 to hit $53.66 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.57 to trade at $61.94 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.35% to 19.0375, while EUR/MXN fell 0.61% to 21.7170.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 95.822.
