Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.28%

Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods&Services, Consumer Staples and Materials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.28% to hit a new 3-months high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 3.40% or 21.18 points to trade at 643.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (MX:KIMBERA) added 2.85% or 0.970 points to end at 34.990 and Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA) was up 2.80% or 0.43 points to 15.76 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which fell 3.33% or 10.72 points to trade at 310.72 at the close. Becle SA (MX:CUERVO) declined 1.82% or 0.490 points to end at 26.500 and Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:BIMBOA) was down 1.73% or 0.670 points to 37.960.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 163 to 136 and 3 ended unchanged.

Shares in Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.33% or 10.72 to 310.72. Shares in Becle SA (MX:CUERVO) fell to all time lows; losing 1.82% or 0.490 to 26.500.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.54% or 6.60 to $1232.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.20% or 0.82 to hit $69.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.63 to trade at $74.07 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 1.15% to 18.6840, while EUR/MXN fell 0.64% to 21.9285.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 93.96.
