Dollar Tree reported second quarter earnings that missed analysts' expectations on Thursday and revenue that topped forecasts.

The firm reported earnings per share of $0.76 on revenue of $5.74B. Analysts polled by expected EPS of $0.82 on revenue of $5.72B. That compared to EPS of $1.15 on revenue of $5.53B in the same period a year earlier. The company had reported EPS of $1.14 on revenue of $5.81B in the previous quarter.

Dollar Tree shares gained 4.42% to trade at $104.00 in pre-market trade following the report.
