Delta Rises Midday After Q2 Guidance Boost

Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) was higher in midday trading Tuesday after the company increased its guidance for its fiscal second quarter.

The airliner said it expects its earnings per share in the second quarter to range from $2.25 to $2.35 per share, with total revenue at $12.7 billion to $12.8 billion.

Both ranges are ahead of the current estimates of analysts forecasts compiled by .

Demand for its services are strong, the company said in an 8-K filing.

The airline was up 1.8% . Elsewhere in the industry, Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) rose 0.4%, while United Continental (NASDAQ:UAL) gained 0.8% and JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ:JBLU) gained 1.9%.
