Biotech Moderna rose sharply Friday after the National Institutes of Health (NIH) said progress with the company’s potential coronavirus vaccine continues.

  • The head of the NIH said this afternoon that tests of the vaccine on mice has been free of “glitches.”

  • The treatment could be ready for phase 1 clinical trials on humans in 2-1/2 months, he added.

  • Shares of Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:MRNA) spiked 11%.
