Breaking: Boeing Halts 737 Max Jet Production - Report

Boeing (NYSE:BA) will halt production of its currently grounded 737 Max jetliner for January, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing a person briefed on the matter.

The aerospace giant had continued to assemble about 40 of the jets per month while waiting for regulatory approval for the jets to fly again. It now has a backlog of about 400 planes.

The jets were grounded after two fatal crashed in five months. Approval is not expected until February, the Journal reported.

Shares of Boeing (NYSE:BA) fell 1% in after-hours trading. The stock was off more then 4% during the regular session on anticipation of this move, weighing on the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
